So I got the ZZ4 intake installed and such, and made a block off plate for the heat riser on the intake... I'm not actually sure if that's what it's caleld, but I'm sure it's close to it Laughing ...

It's the thing right below the carb on the passenger side..

anyways, I was curious if this thing would cause a vacuum leak, or just leak coolant, or what? I'm not too sure how well the gasket is sealing it, nor how flat my piece of aluminum with two holes in it for bolts is after I man-handled it.

Thanks Smile

Are you talking about the EGR valve? If so there's 2 holes your blocking off. One will be plumbed into the exhaust, the other is into the intake. A small exhaust leak might be annoying but if the intake side leaks you've got a vacuum leak problem.

Nope, it's right next to the EGR valve. It's sort of rectangular in shape, at the base of the intake right next to the carb, on the passenger side.

I believe I heard someone say it was used for a manual choke setup or something? I know that I've got an older intake matching from like a 69 Chevelle, and it has one, and it's got a wound up spring inside of it... my intake didnt come with one.

I dont think thats actually plumbed into anything.. the exhaust actually passes below that and heats up that chamber and spring. So block it off with whatever you want.
