Dell's having a big sale.. short term only so if you want one jump on it right away. Configure a system for $1499 or more.. and they give you $750 off.

http://www1.us.dell.com/content/products/features.aspx/value_inspn?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs

When the link quits deals over i guess.

i could build you a computer for 600 minimum, but it would be much nicer if done for 1500 with higher end parts and extra space and raid and a 19" monitor instead of a 15"

but the parts inside are crap, and when your hard drive dies i will tell you that you shoulda forgot about gaining credit and spending an extra 300 and just went with the one i would have built you that would have lasted a decade.

thats nice.

however, I don't trust anyone but myself to build a computer for me, laptops included.

as far as higher end parts go, it all depends on what you want the computer for. I don't cut corners on my own computers, and rarely would for anyone else even at their request...

having said that, I'm perfectly happy with my current set up,
just waiting to upgrade to the X2 4800 in a few months Twisted Evil

but, any idiot can build a computer.
its not hard to do, if you can use a screw driver and can plug things in, you're set

so lets not argue who can build something better.
because I'll bring my years of reseller promotions, discounts and freebies down upon thee like a hailstorm Very Happy

Well if I wanted a Joe Blow brand computer with no software, no warranty and no financing I guess I could have somebody build one. Besides.. the price wasnt $1500.. you configure a computer for $1500 and you get it for $750. You're $300 savings almost goes into the toilet just buying a licensed version of Windows XP.. or are you saying we should just steal it?

I've always wanted to build a laptop for myself, but could never find parts for them other than hard drives and RAM....

where do you buy the casing and monitor, and all that other good stuff at ?

And I agree with the above post... if you can change spark plugs, you can build a computer lol.

a thing called a reciept from the parts resellers would show you that you got good stuff and what all costs went into the computer. when i do computers i usually get like $50 for it. everything bought legitimate, including software. actually i just got 'hired' to build this ubercomputer for some company and they are going to pay me $100, double my normal amount! they are purchasing all the parts themselves though, and i just set it all up, along with some odd stuff they want done.

to be honest though brandon, the majority of parts bought retail come with warranties, and if you know your way around the insides of a computer you shouldn't have a problem with that. But most people don't care for that or know what to do with the part...

for a lot of people its easier just to take their computer into a shop and say "have at it fuckers! it don't work!"

can't argue the cost of what you get from dell, its a lot more than what other people offer for sure, but I always have my worries with computers that are mass manufactured, be it dell, gateway or whatever.

and yes, I'm saying just steal XP.
I mean, its microsoft.

I doubt very many people on this forum have legit paid copies of 98, 2000, or XP floating about Surprised
