Hey guys, I have a rather annoying vats issue happening with one of my cars, I need to completely remove vats from my car, not just resistor instead of the key type removal, please PM me if you have any sensitive info since this site is pretty public Laughing

unless someone knows the actual cause of the problem I am having, the key works 9 times out of 10, but if it doesnt work, I need to wait for vats to reset then it will work, and I am loosing crank and injector pulse (varified by a noid light while bypassing the antitheft starter relay)

thanks alot guy, this does nothing to make the wife think the car will be reliable Laughing

Rich

why not just use resistors? To my knowledge its either do that or burn a new prom disabling vats, but the 2$ in resistors seems more apealing than 100-200 in tuning stuff

because I tried that and the problem persisted, I figured that meant the ignition and key were not the problem, so it must be a module problem or something???

Possibly, but I'm not sure if it can be physically removed without a prom burn, how close was the resistors? They have like a 15% tolerance

Those small wires are pretty finiky I soldered mine in and it broke off i ended up heat shrinking the entire thing on one piece across the resistors and then I bent it in a u shape and heat shrunk up over the piece and onto the tiny wires about an inch band a half

Possibly lol I found the strangest thing in my wifes camaro when I was fixing he headlights, one of the wires on the vats relay in the drivers kick panel was grounded, green I believe, the security light has e tape over it so idk if it illuminates, probably should have removed it when I had the bezel off.... Anyway I was confused as to why the hell it would be run to ground so I clipped it and moved on to tracing ny harness, after all was said and done I went to start it and nothing.... Nada, when I reconnected the ground it cranked and fired first try so apparently that's another way around vats, probably just closes the contacts on the relay so it always has a starter connection. It doesn't suprise me since the key can be pulled from the ignition in the on position... Need to get all the locks fixed, mainly just the tumbler and the hatch

That green wire is the ground supplied by the VATS module to the starter enable relay. Grounding it could effectively bypass the VATS module.

Bottom right of the schematic....

that only bypasses the starter side of vats, not the injector firing part
