Finally got the rear springs for my Furd late this afternoon. Never thought you see three huge packs of springs in the back of a Cavalier, did you?
Replaced the broken pack. I think the junkyard truck may have had a couple fewer loads hauled in it:
Swapped out the driver's side pack and found this on the shackle-to-frame bolt:
Reinstalled all the shocks, tightened all the u-bolts front and back and took it around the block just after dark.
Suspension is noticeably softer. Steering response is kinda weird, the dead zone is the same but the response after that ramps in much faster than before (factory vs. dropped ptiman arm). No noticeable rub on full lock with the 33's.
I did not reinstall the factory 2" blocks in the back which drops it down level with the front (36" from ground to top of wheelwell all around). I think it looks better with them, but it's much easier to load without them. I'll have to wait till the next time I get it fully loaded to see if I get any rub in the back. |
