Is this car worth it. 1992 Firebird formula (Yes it is a formula)

It has a 350 TPI automatic hardtop with 94,000 miles. Power everything

It needs new brakes.

Hood was replaced in a front end wreck.

Look under no frame damage.

Has wrong front on it.

Interior is great except needs new screws center counsel.

Have to rekey hatch lock. Everything works.

Would need a paint job. They painted it but did a bad job

The guy is asking 3500.

More than I'd pay.

What "wrong front" does it have?

From KBB.com

$3580 in 'Good' condition - "Good" condition means that the vehicle is free of any major defects. This vehicle has a clean title history , the paint, body and interior have only minor (if any) blemishes, and there are no major mechanical problems. There should be little or no rust on this vehicle. The tires match and have substantial tread wear left. A "good" vehicle will need some reconditioning to be sold at retail. Most consumer owned vehicles fall into this category.

$3080 in 'Fair' condition - "Fair" condition means that the vehicle has some mechanical or cosmetic defects and needs servicing but is still in reasonable running condition. This vehicle has a clean title history , the paint, body and/or interior need work performed by a professional. The tires may need to be replaced. There may be some repairable rust damage.

Those are the numbers for your zip code. It sounds to me by your description that the car is closer to 'fair' condition. Personally from what I have seen that would be a $2500 - $3000 car (hard to tell without seeing it and driving it). I would subtract for brakes and paint (if it is that bad). Based on the repair job a carfax report might be a good investment if you start seriously consider buying it.

Thanks for the info. He is asking 3500 but I would probably start at 2700.

The other thing is they only made 1050 formula for 92. So that might convince me to pay more.

Just remember to make sure that it really is a 350ci. I've heard of lots of people finding out after the fact that its only a LB9. As for the condition I think $2700 is a good starting point. I usally expect to do the brakes on a car when I get it and the interior screws are really a non issue, if you going to try and work him on the price focus on the wrong bumper, piror damage, and bad paint. Just my 2 cents.
