When you're not used to a v8.... the little LO3 has some good torque.

Ehh... 160 horse with a 3.07 first an a pegleg rear are probably pretty impressive to someone unaccustomed.

Not worth much more than scrap with the blown 700R4 and the smashed and missing front end.

Trans could be fine. Someone "told them" it was bad.

Heh 3.07 were bad... but with a 5 speed they've got alot of grunt. I'm always impressed when I get in a stock one.

I'd put my money on that "someone" being totally right.

There are two Camaro's for sale on CL right now with bad 700R4's. It's a thing that happens because people aren't smart enough to swap a T5 in. Laughing

My '91 LO3 ran a best of 16.5 @ 89mph. You'd be hard pressed to find someone who actually thought that was "fast as hell". Wink

It's because you are accustomed to it, John.

Late 80's and early 90's econoboxes generally ran 18-19 sec quarter mile stock. Add 10 years, and many of them are up above 20. To someone who usually drives something like that, I'm sure the 255tq and 16 second quarter mile are indeed "fast as hell". It's all about perspective.

Back to the fast as he!! part. I would suggest thats the upside of the big 2.5 producing so many fast v8 cars over the last 10+ years. The kids nowadays are showing a well deserved respect for all v8 pony / muscle / sports cars. They dont know anything different, just like when I was a kid.
