The local shop said "it can be up to a couple of thousand" to do a rebuild, and doing it myself is beyond my skill, equipment and funds so,

gotcha, but then what is the black cylinder for? I though the smaller piece of diameter was inside it. It is next to my non tied down battery, maybe it got crushed?

Deq results in
Before Iso-Heet to a very low tank: HC's were at 285 and 305 (standard is 220)

After, it was 221. Much clsoer, but they still failed me for smoking. Crying or Very sad

With the multimeter set to "200" the OHMs were around 180, car off, acc on.

More importantly, I twisted that orange wire back together to see what it did, and I got a reading of 14.62 w ...

I just double check the connector and it looks fine. The contacts are nice and shiny. I tested the voltage on the contacts with the harness disconnected so it seems like it's working fine.
